Happy 14th August
The word 'Pakistan' has been coined from the names of those regions that make up this nation - Punjab, Afgan Border States, Kashmir, Sind and Baluchistan. Even after 1947, Pakistan remained a dominion for nine years. It was only on the 23rd of March, 1956, that the country was declared an Islamic Republic. East Pakistan broke away and proclaimed sovereignty of the Republic of Bangladesh in 1971.
Today, the nation comprises of the major provinces - Sindh, Baluchistan, Punjab and the North West Frontier Province along with the Federal Capital and other tribal areas. The tribal areas coming under the the government of Pakistan are Khyber, Kurram, Malakand, Mohmand, North Wazirstan and South Wazirstan. The capital city of the country is 'Islamabad'.

کبھی اک خواب ديکھا تھا وطن ميرا وطن ھو گا
سبھی آپنے يہاں ھونگے يہاں کوي غير نہ ھو گا
کھليں گے پھول سرسوں کے گلی کوچہ چمن ھو گا
اٹھيں گی جس طرف نظريں اسی جانب امن ھو گا
حقیقت خواب تھا میرا مگر تعبیر نہ نکلی
چنا نسخہ حکیموں کا مگر تاثیر نہ نکلی
میدان چنگ اترنا تھا مجھے انصاف کی خاطر
گلا دیکھا جو اپنوں کا میری شمشیر نہ نکلی
وطن چھوڑا فرھنگی نے تو ھاتھ آیا وڈیروں کے
وطن لوٹا بے رحمی سے یہ بیٹے تھے لٹیروں کے
بناھیں اپنی جاگیریں خزانہ قوم کا لوٹا
کیا مقروض ملت کو دھیے طحفے اندھیرون کے
کڑکتی دھوپ نے مارا کبھی اولے گرے مجھ پر
کبھی مارے گیے کوڑے کبھی گولے گرے مجھ پر
کبھی جرنیل کا تھپڑ کبھی جج کی پڑی گالی
سویا میں کبھی بھوکا کبھی کچھ مانگ کی کھالی

Khuda kare ke meri arz-e-paak par utray
Woh fasl-e-gul jise andeishaey zawaal na ho
Yahan jo phool khiley, woh khila rahey sadiyon
Yahan khiza ko guzarnay ki bhi majaal na ho
Yahan jo sabza ugay woh hamesha sabz rahey
Aur aisa sabz ke jiski koi misaal na ho
Khuda kare ke na khum ho sar-e-waqar-e-watan
Aur uske husn ko tashvishay maho saal na ho
Har ek fard ho tehzeeb-o-fun ka aujey kamaal
Koi malool na ho, koi khusta haal na ho
Khuda kare ke mere ek bhi humwatan ke liye,
Hayat jurm na ho zindagi wabaal na ho
Aur khuda kare ke meri arz-e-paak par utray
